VOLUNTEERING
The number of teams that our Club is able to run each year depends directly on the number of players who apply to join us AND on whether enough new volunteers come forward. All the teams in our club can only run because of the efforts of volunteers (all of whom are volunteers in the true sense – they are all unpaid). This includes the coaches, but also includes various other roles, including: Year Group Secretary, Treasurer, Fixture Secretary, and Social Secretary. In simple terms, if we have no volunteers, there is no club.
All families’ circumstances and commitments are, naturally, unique, and it is easy to see how we can each sometimes convince ourselves that we don’t have the time, skills or knowledge available to those who do volunteer. However, those who volunteer of course also have their own commitments and the same 24 hours in every day as the rest of us.
The philosophy of Larkhall is that all families should get involved - in some way - to support the operation of their child(ren)’s club, and so share the effort needed to do everything that needs doing. Otherwise, all the work is left to a few “willing horses” which we feel is unfair on those good enough to step forward to help.
We therefore ask the parent(s)/carer(s) of each child to indicate on the relevant page of their child’s membership application form what they would be prepared to do to help out at the club. This needn’t be a very time-consuming role and, after all, “many hands make light work”. Volunteering with Larkhall Athletic Youth FC is very rewarding and contributes directly to your child’s enjoyment at our club. We should know by the end of June how many teams we will be able to run for season 08/09. Should it be the case that there are insufficient players and/or volunteers to run particular teams, parents/carers will be advised ASAP and their £30 deposits will, of course, be returned to them.
THEREFORE PLEASE DON’T LEAVE IT TO OTHER PEOPLE -
PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO DO WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP.
