26 Jan Girls’ game vs. Melksham is…….ON!!
Contrary to what I was suggesting to one or two parents (doh!), tomorrow’s scheduled home game is ON - the game has NOT been postponed.
Nicki O’Connell will ring around parents/carers to confirm this and check players’ availability.
Please note that the game is a 1.30 kick-off at The Royal High School. Please be sure to bring boots, shin pads, a drink and warm and dry clothing for when you are not actually playing.
Please arrive by no later than 1.00 to allow time for a proper warm up.
It’ll be great for the girls to be playing again!

Welcome “Essex”, Lucy and Anna!!
As explained below, because Nicki will soon be working away from the area, she will shortly have to step down as coach of the U12 Girls. This is a great shame and I know we will all miss Nicki.
However, I am pleased to say, that with Nicki’s help, we have been able to identify three other lady coaches to take over from her. They are Leanne Couch (known as "Essex"), Lucy Harper and Anna Burgoyne. Essex and Lucy both play for Larkhall Ladies and all three are knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches who I am sure the U12 Girls will enjoy working with.
I am also pleased to say that Pegs, who has taken various coaching sessions this season and helped managed the girls at some matches has also agreed to support the coaching of our girls, as and when she may be needed.
I know that the U12 Girls and their parents/carers would like to join me in saying a big thank you to all four ladies for their preparedness to volunteer their valuable time to help coach our girls, so we can keep the team going and build on the great progress so far achieved.

New link added to Wiltshire Girls League website
So the girls and their parents/carers can view the league table and fixtures for the U12B Wiltshire Girls League which our Girls team is in, a new link labeled "Wilts Girls League" has been added to the bottom of the Links list on the right of this page. Then just click the Back button in your browser to return to this page.

Sorry Girls….20 Jan and 2 Feb games are both OFF
Sorry to break the bad news, but I have just heard from Nicki that Chippenham have confirmed that our scheduled game with them tomorrow, 20 Jan, has had to be postponed because the Stanley Park pitches are waterlogged.
Also, unfortunately, the game on 2 February against Lavington has also already had to be postponed. This game is off not because of the weather, but because Lavington’s preliminary round cup game last week was postponed and has now been rearranged for 2 February. Because, according to the rules, cup games take priority over League games, our 2 February League game with Lavington will now have to be played on another day.
We will try and rearrange these games as soon as possible, as we know that it’s been quite a while since the girls last played.

Only name proposed for our Girls’ team is “The Belles”
Earlier in the season (on 3 December) an invitation was posted on this website for girls to consider what name, if any, they would like to give their team alongside "Larkhall Athletic".
I mentioned several names as possibilities that I had seen given to other girls’ teams locally, including "The Belles", and this is the only name that any players in the Girls’ team have told me that they like.
Therefore, unless there are any "late entries" or any objections submitted before the end of January, I suggest that the Girls’ team be called "Larkhall Athletic Belles" for the future. If I do receive some more suggested names for the team before the end of January, all the girls in the squad can have a vote on which name they prefer.

Would everyone please be sure to arrive at the Royal School by 1.00pm for a warm up. Thank you.

Any ideas for a name for our Girls’ team?
Our fantastic Larkhall U12 Girls’ team is currently called just that - "Larkhall U12 Girls", while each of our other teams has a name, with most of the established teams at each Year Group being called "The Falcons" and most development teams being called "The Eagles".
I think it would be nice if our Girls’ team also had a suitable name, so if any of our girl players agree, please let me have any ideas (either by email: tony@day1426.freeserve.co.uk, or by using the Contact Us facility on the web site). In case it helps fire anyone’s imagination, the sorts of names I have seen for girls’ teams in other leagues include: Belles, Vixens, Sensations, Bees, Lions, Tigers, etc.
I’ll let all the girls know of any suggested names I receive and then the girls can pick which name they wish to go by!

Long gap in fixtures, but rearrangement of postponed Chippenham game planned
There is now a long gap in the Girls’ published fixtures, with the next game not scheduled until 19 January, when we are due to play Chippenham (away). Such a long break is not ideal, as we don’t the girls to lose their momentum.
Therefore, efforts will be made to rearrange our home game against Chippenham, which was postponed earlier in the season. Possible dates for the game are 1 or 8 December. We will let the girls know at training what has been arranged and also post details on the website. We may also seek to arrange a friendly match before 19 January.
So, watch this space….!

Photos of games wanted please…..
If there are any budding David Baileys out there (who IS he?), it would be great to have some action shots of the Girls’ matches to include with the match reports. Therefore, please take your cameras to games and (provided the other team’s coach is agreeable) click away!
Please email any photos to tony@day1426.freeserve.co.uk.
