Larkhall U10’s - Hawks

HAWKS 3 - 2 Bath Arsenal

For the second week in a row The Hawks provided another fine footballing display that resulted in a well earned victory against one of their local rivals.
The first goal had a large slice of luck as the Bath Arsenal keeper tried to clear the ball but only managed to hit Jack, the ball rebounding into the net.
This was followed by some nice passing football with Zico, getting himself into some good positions and on the end of some well created chances.

Bath Arsenal were by no means out of the game and played some good football themselves but Connor and Nathan, proving very hard to beat in defence, kept their chances to minimum. Archie, the keeper for the first half, had little to do. They did, however, earn a corner which resulted in a fine headed equalizer.
Bath Arsenal started to put on some pressure in the last parts of the first half and the midfield of Benny, Josh R & Jack showed they could defend as well as attack.
The second half saw some changes, with Josh S coming on, Jack being pushed up front and Benny replacing Archie in goal.
Jack made the most of his new position scoring his 2nd goal.
Josh S and Archie settled straight into the game and both displayed some fine passing and creativity with Josh R covering every inch of the pitch (not for the first time this season).
Unfortunately, despite this good play, Bath Arsenal managed to score an equalizer.
This set up an exciting last 10 minutes with both teams trying hard to get the winner.
The winner did arrive in dramatic style. Jack, picking the ball up on his own half way line, beat 3 players on his way to the by line. It looked as though he had run out pitch but managed to shoot from an unlikely angle. His shot found the top right hand corner of the goal!
The Hawks saw out the remaining of the game to ensure victory was theirs.
A great effort and some fine football. You did yourselves proud. Well done boys!

Larkhall U14 Girls 4 Swindon Town 1

Larkhall U14 Girls made a stylish start to the defensive of their Wiltshire County Cup defence as they beat Swindon Town 4-1 following a commanding performance.

After Becky Sartin fired into the side netting, the Larks took a deserved lead when the impressive Ellie Marden and Romany Lowe combined well to release Ellie Lyne, who outpaced the Swindon defence before crashing the ball into the bottom corner.

A fine save from Stacey Wall and strong defensive tackling from Becky Kersey, maintained the lead and then took control in the second half. Ellie Lyne doubled the lead after a good move involving Becky Sartin and Romany Lowe. Then Rebecca Jacobs capped an excellent performance as she cut in from the left, dribbled past two defenders and cracked the ball home.

Substitute Becky Roper made it 4-0 with a strong shot before Swindon scored a well worked consolation goal.
