Under 9s Mid Wilts League fixtures for 2009 published

Hi everyone,

I have just received from the Mid Wilts League the new fixture list for the remainder of the season. Following the pre Christmas games that managed to survive the weather, the U9s have been placed in Division 3 (of 6).
Which teams are in which Divisions and our U9s’ fixtures in Division 3 are shown below.

Latest U14 News

Training during half term holidays

There will be NO training next Tuesday, 17 February 2009.

Future training evenings

We will resume training at St Marks on 24 February. I am currently exploring with the school the feasibility of moving training to Monday evenings from Tuesday as that will enable some extra players to train with us.

Future friendly matches

There are three friendly matches for which I have agreed provisional dates with the other teams:

- The game planned for this Sunday, 15 February versus FC Chippenham Youth U14s, has had to be moved to Sunday, 22 February because of the state of the pitches at Lansdown (KO 2.30)
- Saturday, 21 February (KO 10.30 am) versus Dilton Rovers (venue to be cofirmed)
- Saturday, 28 February (KO 11.00 am) versus Chippenham Town U14s (away at Stanley park)

I will confirm ASAP, details of all matches and post a notice here on our website

Summer tournaments

Details of these are being published by clubs and I will publish these on our website under “Under 14s News” so keep looking here. Each tournament is normally six a side and takes place on a Saturday, a Sunday or sometimes on a Friday evening. Each of our Larkhall teams normally enters three, four or five tournaments. The cost is normally £3 per player per tournament, as we have to pay to enter each tournament (to fund trophies, etc). This cost is additional to the normal subs.

Payment of overdue subs

Thank you to those parents/carers who have paid. Would those of you who have still to pay please do so ASAP. As I mentioned in a text message to players/parents/carers, the cost is a sliding scale, depending on when your son started training: £90 if joined in Sept, £80 in Oct, £70 in November, £60 in December and £50 in January (any £30 deposits people have paid are included in the above figures).

If you do owe any outstanding subs, would you please bring or post a cheque (made payable to “Larkhall Athletic Youth FC”) to my house ASAP: Tony Day, 55 Rosslyn Road, Bath BA1 3LQ. Thank you.

Falcons remaining fixtures for 09 !!!!!

We have placed this up to give you all an idea of what games are left to play ,so you can plan ahead alittle and let us know if your available or not.

As you can see we have no games at all during April, with our final 2 games 5 weeks later in May !! . We have contacted the league regarding this as we feel its abit unfair as we are the only team to be in this situation, however the fixtures stand, sorry.

This Sunday we are away at Melksham. Kick off is at 10:45, so we need to be there about 10:15.

The ground is here.

It looks as if the ground entrance is where Campion Drive bends to the right just before it becomes Cornflower Way.

U14s’ game vs. FC Chippenham on 22 February is OFF

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry, the game that was planned for this Sunday can’t now go ahead.

It seems that there is not a suitable pitch available for us either at Lansdown or in Chippenham and, in any case, it seems that we would not have had enough players available to field a team.

It’s a shame, as I know some of the boys were looking forward to the game, as I was. However, the other two games we have on the calendar - which I have told players and their parents/carers about separately - should still go ahead and we will hopefully be able to rearrange the game with FC Chippenham.

Training as usual next Tuesday at St Marks. The following week it may move to Monday (i.e. 2 March). I should be able to advise players about this next Tuesday.

U13s Larkhall Ospreys Division 2 Winners

After their first season in the Midsomer Norton League division two Larkhall Ospreys have won the league and gained promotion to the first division next season. With all games now complete the season finished with 14 wins, 1 draw and only 1 loss.

This is an excellent achievement for the players and the team due to the fact that the team nearly disbanded at the beginning of the season due to poor results in the last two seasons, generally because of a lack of players.

With only eight players at the beginning of the season, two of whom were new to the team, there are now 20 players registered with the club. Much of this is due to the help of the eight original players who have helped to bring in new players, and to Rich Stone who has not only given up a lot of his time in trying to attract the players we now have but who also guided the team and me in our infancy.

This has been my first year coaching football and managing the team and it has been a real pleasure. The players have been really enthusiatic and easy to coach. Winning obviously helps though!

This is a great achievement for both the team and the club and one which the players should all be very proud of.

We are away to Malmesbury Town Youth in Malmesbury near Tetbury, please note the earlier meet time !!!!
